Nuts & Fruits
Preserve your commodity
Nuts and dried fruits are often processed by the same company which is the reason why we put them on one page. The controlled Atmosphere Treatments of b-Cat is completely safe for these commodities to put into one treatment room at the same time, as with any other type of product.
The ZerOx® treatment will kill even the most resistant insects. The low oxygen level will ensure that all insects in all life-stages will be eradicated; eggs, larvae, pupae and adults.
Infestations cause direct damage through feeding and by contaminating the product with excreta, webbing and exuvia, therewith creating losses in appearance and quality. This lowers or completely destroys the market value. Insects might inoculate yeast into the product which could turn sour. Insect feeding damage may also provide entry to aflatoxin-producing molds (Aspergillus spp.).
The presence of any live insects greatly impacts trade, particularly to foreign markets.
Common commodity feeders:
- Almond moth (Cadra cautella)

- Tropical warehouse moth (Ephestia cautella)
